The AOP Rasteau
A Village steeped in history

Once upon a time there was Rasteau …
Already in the Middle Ages, the lands of Rasteau produced wine. The city was also the most important supplier of wine to the Church and the bishops established in Vaison-la-Romaine.
Tired of the monopoly, some winemakers founded the first cooperative cellar in 1925. Others emancipate themselves completely and found their own cellars.
And its designation.
First of all, the lands were included in the appellation area “AOP Côtes du Rhône”
In 1966, only the reds were classifed AOP Côtes du Rhône Villages (Town) Rasteau.
Finally, after several years of perseverance, the reds obtained the accreditation of a new AOP : The AOP Rasteau, Cru of the Rhône Valley.
